Privacy Policy — Précis AI

1. Introduction

Précis AI Technologies ("we", "us", "our") operates Précis AI, an AI-powered précis generation service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our Service. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this Policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account information: Name, email address, and password (or OAuth token if you sign in with Google)
Profile data: Your stated role, primary use case, and organisation details (if applicable)
Content you upload: Text, PDF, DOCX, or URL inputs you submit for processing
Generated outputs: Précis text, grader scores, and diff maps created from your inputs
Usage data: Generation counts, feature interactions, and timestamps
Payment data: Transaction IDs and subscription status (payment card details are handled exclusively by Razorpay and never stored by us)
Technical data: IP address, browser type, and device information collected automatically

To provide, operate, and improve the Service
To process your inputs and return generated outputs
To manage your account and subscription
To communicate with you about your account, usage, and updates
To enforce our Terms of Service and prevent misuse
To comply with applicable legal obligations

4. AI Processing and Training

Your uploaded documents and generated outputs are processed by Claude (Anthropic's AI model) solely to provide the Service. We do not use your content to train or fine-tune any AI models, ours or Anthropic's. Anthropic's own data handling policies apply to API-level processing; we have enabled the no-training opt-out under our enterprise agreement.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase (PostgreSQL) infrastructure hosted in cloud data centres. We implement row-level security to ensure users can only access their own data. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We use HTTPS for all data transmission. Despite these measures, no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data and generation history for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period thereafter. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Certain data (such as transaction records) may be retained for longer periods as required by law.

7. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:

Service providers: Supabase (database), Anthropic (AI processing), Razorpay (payments), Vercel (hosting), each bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements
Organisation administrators: If you are on an Institution plan, your organisation administrator can see your usage statistics
Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights

8. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We may use first-party analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns; this data is not linked to individual identities.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
Request deletion of your account and personal data
Export your generation history
Withdraw consent for non-essential processing

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at persons under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice within the Service. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the Policy was last revised.
